Vetoed. The “officer” who issued the ticket was working as a construction worker at the time and ticketed her for ignoring the “hand signals of an officer”. I would totally ignore the hand signals of a construction dude if I was the mayor and I had recently demoted a police chief due to incompetence.
Step 1: claim executive privileged.
Step 2: fuck that cop.
Step 3: ????
Step 4: Profit (I’m sure there are actual crimes that both the mayor and police are committing, let’s put them through the legal system for those and not bullshit traffic violations).
I bet the vast majority of traffic violations are little more than an excuse to collect revenue, give the police something to do, and/or provide opportunities to discover evidence of other illegal activities (in a quasi-legal manner).

Gonna agree with you on that one. The person who’s hand signals she was disobeying was not a uniformed police officer, I’m no lawyer, but I’m reasonably confident that you don’t have to obey the hand signals of a random dude on the basis that he might be an off duty cop. The whole thing smacks of retribution.

Private security at best, ‘outside’ doesn’t mean outdoors, it means outside of policing duties. He had no extra authority beyond a concerned citizen. The tickets are bullshit, even if she was speeding, flipping them the bird, and talking shit about the sheriff on the phone.
